More about Kestrel and Sailmaster 22 - Designs 1631 & 1743

There is a very enthusiastic group of owners of both the Kestrel 22 and Sailmaster 22, designs #1631 and #1743 respectively. We are always pleased to receive images of the S&S boats and thought we would share these with you.

Here's a nice Sailmaster 22 where an owner has retrofitted a diesel auxiliary. It also gives a nice peek at her underbody shape.

    2. I have Hull #99, 1964 Sailmaster. Purchased her last summer and sailed few times a week. Same blue and red paint. Such a great sailing boat. Removed and sanded a lot of the brightwork and am ready to get to my list of upgrades as soon as this dang snow melts.

  2. What do you know about Sailmaster Hull #108?, built 1964. I have the builders plate for this boat, and am curious to know something about the boat.

  9. All, I'd like to hear from anyone considering selling an S/22. Right now, I'll consider any condition or location; I'm in the Annapolis area.

I'm coming down off the recent sale of a classic Tartan 37, the Hood design, so I'm way into classic lines and sailing behavior. I need something this old carcass can single-hand and is also a feast for these eyeballs. The Sailmaster 22 here seems to fit that need perfectly. Email me at shoreas at gmail dot com . Thanks, all.

  11. Suppose I want to build new wooden spars for a Sailmaster 22. Can anyone point me to drawings for these? (Or does anyone here know of a set now available?) (And/or is this a really bad idea?)

    1. Hello Arnie,
I don't have drawings for wood spars for the sailmaster 22, but I do have an old mast that could be used as a pattern or possibly repaired. I also have a wood boom that has been restored and is in nice shape. Email me at wsmmaint@yahoo.com for more info or if you are interested. Ben
